List of the best websites to find deals

What's the Deal?

Here are the places that The List’s Conor Knighton goes to get the scoop on the best deals.

1)       Slickdeals.net -- Founded in 1999, this is one of the powerhouse deal sites.  Once a deal hits the front page, there's a good chance the product will sell out in a couple of hours. The website skews towards techie buyers, so you'll find lots of deals on hard drives and video games, but it's a very dedicated and knowledgeable group of deal hunters.

It'll take a while to learn the lingo. For example: AC means After coupon. YMMV means Your Mileage May Vary and B&M stands for Brick and Mortar stores.

2)       Fatwallet.com – This is a similar type of site, but their finance forums feature in-depth discussions of credit cards and loans.

3)       DansDeals.com – The site is ugly, and there are annoying sponsored posts, but it still has some really smart posts about maximizing deals that are worth checking out.

4)       BoardingArea.com – This is a collection of various specific travel blogs.  Check out Mommypoints if you're a parent and AadvantageGeek if you fly American.

5)       Lifehacker.com -- Features some great do it yourself style tips. Plus it has a focus on saving money and saving time.

If you find yourself going to 10 deal sites a day, you should collect them all in a rss reader.  Conor uses Google reader to scan his favorite travel blogs.

Finally, for daily deal sites, check out yipit.com, which collects daily deals from Groupon, Living Social and Travelzoo.

Bookmark these sites and you'll be on your way to saving money in no time.
