On Jan Jeffcoat's List: Photo shows true patriotism in action
Number one on Jan Jeffcoat’s list is 93-year-old Frank Tanabe and a photo of the World War II veteran that has gone viral.
Frank was diagnosed with inoperable liver cancer two months ago and has been in hospice care, but he was determined to vote. Last week, his absentee ballot came in the mail. While his daughter read out the candidates, Frank told her which ones he wanted to vote for so she could help him fill it out.
A photo was taken of that moment and a half-million people saw it on Reddit after his grandson posted it Thursday, making it one of the most popular items on the social media network.
Comments on the photo include: "True patriotism...", "This is America, amen." and "Thank you, citizen."
