CLEVELAND - They’re the hottest colors that can quickly take your home from drab to fab. But, how do paint companies come up with those must-have shades?

WEB EXTRA: The color David Bromstad is 'obsessed' with right now

From what color clothes celebrities like Justin Beiber are wearing, to the colors on cars rolling off the assembly line in Detroit, it all comes together to help Cleveland, Ohio-based Sherwin Williams develop a yearly “Color Forecast.”

“We look at pop culture, we look at music, we look at global events, fashion,” said Jackie Jordan, Sherwin Williams Director of Color Marketing.

"Reasoned" tops the list of hot colors just released for 2014.

“It’s all about black and white and all these beautiful shades of grey in-between,” said Jordan.

Also be on the lookout for “Intrinsic,” which is a bold global palette.

“The influences are coming from Latin America.  We’re also getting influences from Eastern Europe,” said Jordan.

"Curiousity" rounds out the top three.

“It’s very dark it’s very weird,” added Jordan.

While the color forecast is a great place to find inspiration, the perfect palate for your home can be found in the most random places.

“Whether you’re in the grocery store, shopping for clothes, or you’re literally going through your trash,” said David Bromstad.

Bromstad, host of HGTV’s “Color Splash,” admits navigating the paint world can be tough.

“You get very overwhelmed, even as a designer I don’t go and pick my colors at a paint store because it’s really overwhelming,” said Bromstad.

To help, there’s HGTV Home by Sherwin Williams.

“It guides people for room-to-room color,” said Jordan.

If all else fails, you can go back to the Beibs for inspiration.  As for what color he represents?

“I kind of see him as a magenta," said Jordan.  "A really fun, vibrant pink color.”
