ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -  TJ Halvorsen has been tattooing people for seven years, but this year he is letting the entire country see his work.

Halvorsen, the owner of Foolish Pride Tattoo Shop in St. Petersburg, is a contestant on Spike’s “Ink Master.”  The reality show starts airing this Tuesday night.

“The goal is to beat fifteen other artists,” said Halvorsen.

All of the contestants are competing for a chance to win $100,000.  He can’t reveal how he did on the show, but he’s excitement about the opportunity.

“The biggest compliment is having someone having my artwork on them,” said Halvorsen.

He’s been operating his downtown St. Petersburg shop for nearly five years, but now he can add TV star to his resume.

The quirky Gulfport market also makes our list.   The event happens each Tuesday at 9 a.m.  It’s a chance for local vendors to showcase produce and crafts.  Some of the vendors said customers will get a taste of something different.

“There’s a t-shirt that says if it’s too weird for Gulfport then, it’s too weird, said vendor Judy Greer.  And that fits us to a tee.”

The market takes place in the quint downtown area of Gulfport.  Organizers said they’ve extended the event’s hours to “accommodate” the snowbird crowd.
