PHOENIX - From brewing tea, to brewing beer, today's Around Town is all about beverages. January is National Tea Month, and while most of us go straight for a tea bag and a mug one Valley woman is showing us the proper way to enjoy tea.
Anne Stokes is as sweet as they come, like all the sugar cubes in the world landed in her tea cup, and nearly as sweet as her prized peach preserves, which won her a blue ribbon. Stokes offers tea service lessons, because as she says 'a lot of people don't know anything about tea.'
When it comes to brewing the perfect cup of tea, Stokes says first you have to boil your water, then place loose leaf tea in the teapot. Next, pour a little milk into the cup and add a sugar cube or two. Once your tea is ready pour it through a strainer and you're ready to sip.
If you'd like to take one of Anne's classes, you can email or call her.
Sex Panther Beer available for a limited time
Something that doesn't need straining but also tastes delicious going down is a new local craft beer called 'Sex Panther'.
The Winter seasonal double chocolate porter with hints of truffle and molasses was created by the brewmasters at San Tan Brewing Company
It's available on draught and in 12 ounce cans, if you want a taste you better hurry. It's only available until the end of March - when Mr Pineapple Wheat Beer comes out.
