Dating dos and don'ts

Comedian Jerry Seinfeld once said, "What is a date, really, but a job interview that lasts all night?" If you're single, we thought it might be a good idea to provide a little advice on how to make those first dates a bit easier with some expert dating tips for men and women.

Before entering the dating game, experts say you should know a thing or two about how to play.

"They can tell when a guy doesn't have confidence from a mile away," said relationship expert Mike Lindstrom.
TIP 1: Dating is a game where confidence is king and chivalry isn't dead.
"Open the damn door. Kiss her at night. Don't be an idiot. Talk about her. Listen. It's so simple," Lindstrom said.
Lindstrom co-authored the book Men: 10 Secrets Every Woman Should Know from Two Guys Who Do and says men often oversell themselves.
"If you really want to show off or tell about your strengths, ask about it first and then invite the question to come back to you," Lindstrom said.
TIP 2: Don't even think about using your phone during your evening of romance.
"When you're getting out of the car, turn the phone off right in front of her and leave it in the console, and say you know one thing that I really believe in when connecting with people is paying attention," Lindstrom said.
TIPS FOR WOMEN: For advice for the ladies, we turned to Whitney Casey.  Whitney is a relationship expert for and author of The Man Plan.
"Catch yourself up with a little pop culture, maybe read the paper, or the blogs, or whatever you can do.  Don't just focus on what you're going to wear," Casey said.
And when it comes to accessories,go small.
"If you can fit your hand in your bag, arm to wrist, the bag is too big.  Basically, it's like you're coming to spend the night," she said.
Instead, opt for a clutch handbag and don't wear anything that could fall off in your food.
"Eyelashes, hair extensions, fingernails, crazy jewelry, anything that makes a lot of noise, don't wear it on a first date," Casey advised.
Good advice to take with you on your first date...or it could be your last.
