The Explorer: Must-see places in Egypt including Giza and Cairo

Egypt is the land of Pharaohs, the phoenix, and the pyramids. Home of the Nile is a highlight reel of must-sees, but it also offers exciting cities and a multitude of hidden treasures.

First let's check out the great pyramid of Giza. Built as a tomb for Pharaoh Khufu, it's the oldest and most intact of the seven wonders of the world.

It's time to hunt and gather some of the best cuisine the middle east has to offer. Like sizzling hunks of meat known as kafka which is ground beef mixed with spices.

You've had some sights and some bites -- now it's time for city lights. Cairo, located near the Nile Delta, is the largest city in the Arab world, and the 16th largest on earth.

And don't forget Egypt's second largest city, the gracious and history-rich Alexandria.  It was Egypt's capital for nearly a thousand years and home to the legendary library and another wonder, the Lighthouse of Alexandria, which was destroyed by an earthquake in the 14th century.
