The Futurist: Houses of the future on land, underwater and in space
Ever wonder what living will look like in the future? Check out your future home on this version of The Futurist.
UNDERWATER: Mission Aquarius is an underwater lab in the Florida keys where the movie "The Life Aquatic" is for real. Known as an inner space station, Aquarius not only researches reefs and sea life, but it's been training astronauts for space missions since 1993.
MICROSOFT HOME: A tour of Microsoft’s home of the future has a hand print scanner that unlocks your front door adding extra security, a counter that organizes your day and an interactive dining room table so cool it'll keep your kids from asking to be excused.
If that wasn’t enough, every wall in your home will be a digital display.
SPACE: NASA believes humans could begin colonizing by 2050. Scientists are working to change sci-fi to reality by developing methods for extracting oxygen from moon soil and cheaper methods of collecting water.
Since launching four liters from earth costs around eighty grand, moon life will be a study in economy, where 90 percent of the water consumed is recycled, and excess moisture and carbon dioxide will supplement greenhouses providing food and oxygen.
