The Explorer: Jumping from mountains, cliffs and the sky

Scaling the summit of human expedition, it's the October 16 segment of The Explorer on The List.

Skiiers have been helicopter skiing for years, but a new generation of stout-hearted snowriders are taking a new path to reach virgin snow.   On National Geographic’s "Giving the Bird the Bird," Jonaven Moore explained how he conquers mountains with a nifty new snowboard called the "split board," which is a snowboard that breaks in two.

If you thought skiiers weren't the only people who weren't afraid of heights -- watch these maniacs!   Artem Silchenko and the rest of Red Bull cliff diving’s best were in Inis Mór, the largest of the Aran Islands in Galway Bay Ireland.  The jump is amazing.

Finally, we follow base jumper Espen Fadnes to Stryn Norway.  Wearing a wingsuit, Fadnes base-jumped and flew down and around a mountain side at 250 kilometers per hour. It looked as if he was going to plummet to his death, but he extended his wings and soars, exhibiting complete control as he twisted around the mountain.
