Here’s what is making the top of our list for October 5.

OCTOBER SURPRISE: The numbers are in and at 7.8, the jobless rate's dropped to its lowest level since January, 2009.  Approximately, 114,000 jobs were added in September. What's it all mean? According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics household survey, this means a net gain of 873,000 full and part time jobs which is the highest one-month jump in 29 years.

That's not the only jump affecting the economy. Gas prices in California soared to near $6 a gallon due to a perfect storm of supply problems.

COOKIE OFF: Cookie monster wants to share, but Ann Romney and Michelle Obama wanted to win it all in "Family Circle Magazine's" presidential cookie contest,

In the end Michelle's white and dark chocolate cookies beat Ann's M&M cookies' by just 287 votes out of more than 9,000 cast. In 2008, Cindy McCain beat Michelle, so it's anyone's guess who'll take the cake this November.

COFFEE WITH THOSE COOKIES: ABC's Good Morning America has booked first lady hopeful Ann Romney to guest host for Robin Roberts next Wednesday.

Plus, there is great news about Robin's recovery from her bone marrow transplant. She's due home from the hospital as early as next week

ANCHOR MANAGEMENT: The Wisconsin man who criticized news anchor Jennifer Livingston as being a bad role model for young girls because of her weight is now defending himself in an ABC Good Morning America exclusive.  Despite Livingston's label, Kenneth Krause is adamant that he's not a bully.

“No, I'm not a bully. I'm in no position to bully her.  She's a big time media personality and I'm a working stiff," Krause said.

Krause also said he was sorry if he offended her.

ADELE: The sultry Adele is expected to shatter iTunes sales records with her James Bond ballad “Skyfall," which came out Friday.

The song has already created a traffic "webjam" at Adele.tv.

The movie Skyfall is out in theaters on November 9,
